Gender inequality remains a social and economic challenge in modern society. Although Indian and Punjabi women have seen significant improvements in education, health, and social status compared to past decades, they still lack empowerment in employment. Despite many women qualifying academically, many are unemployed or work in low-skilled jobs. Issues such as equal pay for equal roles, limited promotion opportunities, workplace discrimination, and family responsibilities continue to block women’s economic progress. This research paper analyses employment trends in Punjab related to gender disparities, explores their causes and social impacts, and suggests potential solutions.
