Abstract

The Zafarnama is a historic and literary letter written by Guru Gobind Singh in the Persian language. It was composed around 1705–1706 CE and addressed to the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The letter consists of approximately 111 couplets (shers). In the Zafarnama, Guru Gobind Singh fearlessly criticized Aurangzeb for breaking his promises, practicing deceit, and committing injustice. At the same time, he upheld the ideals of truth, justice, honesty, and righteousness. The letter emphasizes that when all peaceful means have failed, it is morally justified to stand against oppression and fight for justice
